Reversing Diabetes Action Day: Alex Ortner’s Story

Written by Ritamarie Loscalzo

I was moved by Alex Ortner’s sharing about the making of the film, “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days” and how passion, purpose and persistence saw a group of visionaries through to completion and the making of a film that changes lives.

Here’s how Alex Ortner tells it:

“When Mark Perlmutter came up with the idea to make the film “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days” a few years ago he was looking for a way to share the transformative power of raw and living foods with world.

At the time he was living in Patagonia, Arizona near the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center and was seeing the amazing healing work that Dr. Gabriel Cousens was doing there.

He hoped that by filming what was happening there that he’d be able to help others see the truth about what health and healing is all about.

Like many people who awaken to the reality of how to actually be healthy he was struggling with a way to be able to share the message and have people actually believe him.

You see…when you first realize how backwards our health system is (especially here in America) you want to go out and tell your friends and tell everyone who will listen.

But more often than not people look at you like you’re crazy when you start talking about the corruption of the drug industry and how eating raw and living foods can make you healthy…

The only people who will listen tend to be different in that they’re open minded, intelligent and willing to question things rather than just accepting everything they’re told as truth.

Unfortunately it’s shocking how many people won’t even bother to question things and think for themselves.

But Mark was determined to reach the masses no matter what it took.

So he started to share his idea with others because at the time he had no idea as to how to make a film and didn’t have the full financial resources to make it happen (films are expensive to make!).

And this is when the magic started to happen…

What he discovered was that when he looked in the right places there were lots of people just like him who were frustrated with how the so called “health” industry was telling more and more lies every year just to make more money.

A pill for this, a pill for that, it seemed like they were making up stuff just to sell a pill and although most people were ignorant to it some weren’t…

In the end it took a total of 10 every day people to fund the film (My brother Nick and I being two of those people)

And that was just the money part of it…

The learning curve on how to actually make a film was the really tough part!

The cameras…the tapes…the lighting…the editing… it’s all tougher than you’d think!

But almost 3 years after the release of the film “Simply Raw” we can all say it was worth it.

Every day people email us telling us stories of how they saw the film and how their health and lives transformed as a result of it.

Weight loss, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure…no diabetes…it all just makes us smile.

And although we still haven’t made the money back that we invested (like I said…it’s expensive) we’re all filled with pride knowing that we’re doing the right thing every day to help people.

Now I’m telling you this story because today is Reversing Diabetes Action Day.  And I want to share two…I guess I’ll call them “morals” for the day.  :)

1 – If you’re struggling with any health challenge  or know of anybody who is struggling with health issues please pick up a copy of  “Simply Raw” today at the special 50% OFF discount we’re offering this week.

Mainstream America looks at this whole “raw food” thing like it’s crazy.  But it’s only because they’re brain washed by the big corporations running this country like the drug industry and the food industry.

There’s nothing crazy about eating food that grows in the earth.  People have been doing it for as long as we can remember.

What is crazy is eating fake food and taking drugs that the corporations tell you are “perfectly natural” for your body.

And forget what you think is crazy or not crazy… just try it and see for yourself.  The results that you’ll get is all the proof you really need.

One thing I love to look at is the difference between the people who walk into the pharmacy to get drugs regularly and the people who go to my local farm to get food regularly.

It’s pretty obvious who is healthier…

So I hope that today you’re willing to be one of those people I mentioned above who is willing to question things.

The  film is ridiculously cheap at just under $15 this week.  And you can even get the companion 2 disc DVD set for 50% OFF this week also.

Again, take control of your life and if you’re willing, make the effort to help somebody with their life who you think might need this information.

Here’s the link to check out the trailer and pick up a copy:

2 – If you ever have a vision to help people but don’t think it can happen because of time, money or because you just don’t think you can do it, promise me you’ll do one thing…

Do it anyway.  :)

It’s those people, people like Mark Perlmutter, the creator of our “Simply Raw” film, who are helping to change this world for the better.

It takes courage to stand up and do what’s right and not just profitable.  That’s what the story of this film is about.  That’s why I got involved and do what I do every day.”

The film “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days” and the special offer of 50% off is accompanied with almost $200 in bonuses.

Get your copy of “Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days” today before this special 50% off sale ends on April 29.

Love Health and Joy,

My Commitment to My Adrenals: No Fatigue, Just Sleep!

Written by Ritamarie Loscalzo

When I work with people with fatigue symptoms, related to thyroid and adrenal overload, I talk about several key things:

  1. Whole foods, fresh diet, high in raw foods
  2. Proper hydration
  3. Omega 3 fat balance
  4. Getting off allergenic and inflammatory foods, including gluten, dairy, and sugar.
  5. Fresh air and sunshine
  6. Exercise
  7. Restoring their adrenal reserve and enhancing detoxification via sleep.

I model the first 6 beautifully. I am committed to being as healthy and vibrant as I can be so that I can be a role model to others.

So why is number 7 so ###!!## hard for me?

I did really well on my sleep commitment the first week of my 30 day challenge.

My adrenals loved me for it, and I warded off a bout with adrenal fatigue by giving myself what I needed.

So why can’t I make a firm and lasting commitment?

I’m backsliding. I won’t even say how late it was when my head finally hit the pillow.

There’s still lots to do…there always will be. Yet I am off to meet my pillow and keep my commitment to me.

I made no commitments today and I kept none. What a deal. Tomorrow is a new day.

I did make myself a quart of green juice to start the day. It was lovely. I also did a great job on my omega 3′s today.  The subject is on my mind, as balancing the immune system was the topic of the week for Balance My Body.

I noticed dark circles under my eyes…not good for a fatigue expert to look tired. Not good for someone who prides herself in looking much younger and having the body of a 20 something year-old to notice signs of aging.

Commitments for Sunday, and the rest of the week.

  • I will get outside and exercise
  • I will make at least 16 ounces of green juice and 32 ounces of smoothie
  • I will get my omega 3′s again
  • I will eat consciously and with gratitude
  • I will…can I say it and mean it…I will…..I will…..go to bed by 11PM…at least Sunday

Please hold me to it. Write me and ask me what time I went to bed. I can’t lie.

Post below and be bold enough to check in and make sure I am doing what I committed to. Sleep is vital for health. Food is great, exercise is great, greens are great…but they will only take me so far if I keep burning the candle at both ends.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeep!

Love, Health and Joy,

Dr. Ritamarie

Fats as Friends, Fats as Foe: The balancing act at the heart of overcoming chronic fatigue and adrenal exhaustion

Written by Ritamarie Loscalzo

They’re in the news all the time. They are much maligned in many circles. Yet without then, life ceases to exist. We’re all caught up in the low fat craze. So what’s the truth about fats? Are they really the enemy or are they friends, so long as they stay in balance.

Tune in as I discuss this important matter.

FAts are also very important for hormone balance and mental health.  Without then, you’re at risk for thyroid and adrenal fatigue, hormone deficiencies and depression.

Be sure to eat a good source of omega 3 fats daily, along with a wide variety of antioxidant rich fresh foods.

For delicious recipes using the omega 3 seeds, check out my new book, Power Breakfast Ideas and Dehydration Bliss, an online video course thta teaches how to make delicious breads, crackers and other treats using seeds, nuts and vegetables.

Dr. Ritamarie’s High Omega Parmesian “Cheese”

Written by Ritamarie Loscalzo

I made this recipe up the other day and it was a hit.  It’s a raw parmesian cheese alternative that’s loaded with omega 3 goodness, green food magic and immune system support.

Omega Rich Parmesian

  • 1/2 c hemp seed
  • 1/4 cup ground chia seed
  • 1/4 cup ground flax seed
  • 1 Tablespoon kelp granules
  • 1/2 – 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1-2 Tablespoons nutritional yeast (optional, for a more “cheesey” flavor
  • 4 Tablespoons dried nettles

Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.  Adjust salt and garlic to taste.  Store in a glass jar.  Use as a topping on salads, soups and “pasta” dishes.  It’s yummy and very nutritious

Please comment below and let me know what you think.  What”s your favorite way to get your omega 3 fats?
