Nutrient Testing
There are many labs available for testing nutrient status. This page will be updated regularly.
1- Vitamin D Testing : can be done through your primary care physician, or ordered directly at www.directlabs.com
Click order tests, then select Vitamins and scroll down to Vitamin D, 25-hydroxy.
It’s important to test your vitamin D status, especially if you live in a northern region, wear sunscreen when outdoors or are indoors a lot. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to many serious diseases, including cancer, diabetes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, autoimmune conditions and osteoporosis.
2- Essential Fatty Acid Analysis - through Metametrix Labs. This must be ordered through a physician. If your primary care doctor is unfamiliar with this test or unwilling to order it for you, you can arrange to have it ordered and analyzed by Dr. Ritamarie. Send an email to DrRitamarie for details.
3- Comprehensive Blood Chemistry Panel and Complete Blood Count. This includes thyroid, liver, lipid, glucose, kidney and electrolyte testing. This can be ordered through any physician or directly through www.directlabs.com , where it’s called the comprehensive wellness panel (CWP) . The standard ranges used by the labs are unfortunately not optimal. When interpreting these tests, it’s important to look at the optimal ranges and to analyze ratios and patterns for early signs of functional and nutritional imbalance. Dr. Ritamarie is specially trained to interpret these tests and guide you to make corrections before pathology results, rather than after as is the conventional medical approach.
To have your test ordered and analyzed by Dr. Ritamarie, send an email to DrRitamarie for instructions.
