Listen to the Replay:
Breast cancer for women under the age of 40 is on the rise. In fact, the under 40 group is the only category of women where breast cancer rates are still climbing.
According to the Young Survival Coalition, women between the ages of 15 and 54 die more frequently from breast cancer than any other cancer. Breast cancer for women under the age of 40 is also likely to be more advanced at the time of diagnosis and more aggressive as well as resistant to treatment.
Join Dr. Ritamarie and Dr. Christine Horner as they discuss the unique lifestyle changes women can adopt starting in their pre-teen years. If they follow these changes through each decade of their life to age 40, and then beyond that, they can significantly cut the risk of cancer in half, or eradicate the threat of cancer.
Christine Horner, M.D., FACS, is a nationally known surgeon, author, and professional speaker, and holds two board certifications: the National Board of Surgery and the National Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Horner was recognized as a leader in her field shortly after starting her plastic and reconstructive surgery practice because she successfully ran a national campaign to pass laws requiring insurance companies to pay for breast reconstruction following mastectomy. Her five-year crusade with the Breast Reconstruction Advocacy Project (BRA Project) led to the passage of a federal law that was signed by President Bill Clinton on Oct. 21, 1998. The law was unprecedented because it was the first law Congress passed requiring insurance companies to pay for a specific surgical procedure. Horner is the award-winning author of “Waking The Warrior Goddess: Dr. Christine Horner’s Program to Protect Against and Fight Breast Cancer,” (3rd Edition/2013/Basic Health) and is one of the country’s leading authorities on breast cancer prevention.
