Volume 1, Issue 3

June 29, 2011
Hi Everyone,

My personal message this week comes with a heavy heart.  After a 5 month hospital stay and long, hard battle for his life, my brother-in-law passed away on Sunday.  I’d written a few times about him, and how I was advocating for nutritional intervention.  To their credit, his doctors finally began giving him IV vitamin C, but it was too little too late.  At 250 mg three times a day, that totals to less than a packet of Emergen-C!  The most successful of the studies I made available to them were done using 25 grams  every six hours.

I keep reminding myself that I only can look forward not backward, for regret and anger over what was cannot ever change the future.

I can look to the past for clues about how I may improve my effectiveness should another situation like this arise, and for ways I can advise my patients and students in such circumstances.

Because I will be flying during radio show time on Thursday, we’ll be replaying a popular episode,  3 Life Saving Reasons to Stay Out of the Hospital.  See the radio show listings below for details.  I feel this is a fitting show to replay, given how I’m feeling.

My feature article this week is on the use of vitamin C in cancer protocols.    It comes from the research I did for my brother-in-law.

I appreciate the support of all those who had to reschedule their appointments with me for Thursday and I look forward to our time together.

Love, Health and Appreciation,

Dr. Ritamarie

Vitamin C and Cancer

Your Inner Healer Knows How to Keep You Well and sometimes it just needs a little help!

Whether you’re struggling with cancer, heart disease, autoimmune challenges or even the common cold, your inner healer has the ability to come through for you.  You were born with an amazing ability to heal as long as you live your life in such a way as to allow your innate wisdom to shine through.

Unfortunately, your life choices up until now determine how well your healing wisdom is allowed to shine through.  Sometimes, as in the case of cancer, there has been so much inner damage happening for so long, that your inner healer forgets how to get you well again.

Under these conditions, we need to supply things that flood your immune system with what it needs to be strong.

Food is an important part of the equation, especially things like broccoli sprouts, green leafy vegetables and wheat grass.  What I discovered through personal experience is that hospitals are not equipped to provide this sort of nourishment, so if you end up in the hospital due to cancer, you need to bring your own food, and ask them for nutrition in a different format, one they more easily relate to…..IV.

There is lots of evidence to support the use of IV vitamin C for treating patients with cancer.

I’ve included some references at the bottom.

Also included below is contact information for an amazing “green” oncologist.

His name is Dr. Thomas Lodi is he’s an oncologist in Tempe Arizona.  He’s been extremely successful at helping his patients recover from cancer; often times end stages of cancer using a combination of conventional and alternative modalities.  Nutrition is at the forefront of his approach, including green juices.

You can reach Dr. Lodi at

480-834-5414

The center is called An Oasis of Healing and is located at

210 N. Center Street
Suite #102
Mesa, AZ 85201

Dr. Lodi uses a combination of healing the heart, drinking green juices, IV nutrients and a low dose form of chemo therapy to help people who’d been given up to die soon.  The results are impressive.

Vitamin C IV-Therapy includes numerous vitamins minerals and that help support your immune system, fight infection, reduce inflammation and improve fatigue. High dose Vitamin C reports positive outcomes ranging from improved energy quality of life to actual tumor death.

Unlike most mammals and other animals, we humans do can’t make our own vitamin C and we must obtain it through our diet.

We use Vitamin C for the synthesis of collagen, an important component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bone. Vitamin C is also important for neurotransmitters, and thus effects mood, and for the transport of fat into mitochondria, where it’s converted to energy.

Vitamin C is also a very important and can protect proteins, lipids (fats), carbohydrates, and nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) from damage by free radicals and reactive oxygen species.  Intravenous vitamin C allows tissue levels to reach many times above oral dosing, forming hydrogen peroxide which kills cancer cells while leaving normal cells unharmed.

There is a significant data bank of research on the use of IV Vitamin C in patients with cancer

A more complete list will be published on my blog in a few days.

In the meantime, I need to head out for a funeral for someone who I deeply desired to save using some of these protocols.

Please save these in case you’re called upon to help a family member or friend.  Dr. Lodi is an awesome resource.  His team spent time with me on the phone as I researched this topic and I felt very drawn to the deep caring and depth f knowledge of everyone I spoke to there.
