Hi There,

Ripe Opportunities

I write to you this week from California where fresh fruit is abundant this time of year.  While I had been disappointed with the weather until today, I have been very happy about the abundance of fresh produce.

Today I went with a friend to pick fresh plums at the home of one of her friends who was on vacation.  They are delicious!  Afterwards, we went for a 2 hour hike in the hills of Los Altos where from the top of the hill we had a view all the way to downtown San Francisco, almost 40 miles away.  It was a crystal clear day, sunny and warm with temperatures in the 80's.  After 4 days of cool cloudy weather with temperatures in the 6o’,s the warmth was a welcome relief.

After the hike, we picked Meyer lemons from her mom’s tree.  The aroma of Meyer lemons is a delight and I can’t wait to put them into my smoothie tomorrow.

While I’ve been away, I’ve unfortunately been missing my son Kevin’s championship baseball games.  To my delight, I had a blow-by-blow text message sequence from my husband about what I was missing.

I mention that because I have a story about the power of positive intent and visualization to share.

Plan to Slam

Kevin’s team lost 17-4 on Friday night.  After the game I spoke to him on the phone and told him that I was envisioning him standing at the plate facing a medium sized pitcher, connecting with the ball and sending it way out into the field and dropping over the fence.

On Saturday evening, Kevin hit a ball which hit the fence just a foot before the top, giving him a double.  On Sunday night, he hit a home run.  He texted me:

“…it was a medium sized pitcher, Mom, just like you said and it dropped over the fence, just like you said.”

Do I have ESP?  No.  When I shared that visualization with Kevin and asked him to focus on it, his belief in himself increased dramatically.  In having that belief, he went to the plate confidently and was at his best hitting the ball.

I think it’s like that in many aspects of our lives.  If we fear and anticipate the worst, bad things are likely to happen.

When we focus our positive intent and see things as we wish them to be, we are creating the space for great things to unfold.

In many of my telecourses and with all my coaching clients, we start with visualizing the ideal life.

Batter Up!

Go ahead:

  1. Grab a pen and some paper.
  2. Allow yourself to freewrite (just let words come without your brain jumping in and analyzing). If I could wave my magic wand and all things you desire could unfold, what would your life be like right now?
  3. If it could be any way you’d like, what would your life look like in 5 years?  Write as if it is 5 years from now and you *are* living the life you desire already.
  4. Once you like what you’ve written, type it, print it, and glue your thoughts to an index card you can carry around with you as a reminder of what’s possible and likely if you do what it takes to remove the obstacles.

Enjoy this week’s feature article and recipe!  I look forward to connecting soon.

Much love and appreciation,

Dr. Ritamarie Loscalzo

Juicing for Energy!

If you’ve ever done a juice cleanse where you consume primarily or exclusively fresh pressed juice for a specified length of time, you may have already experienced the state of “juice euphoria”  that comes from having a clean digestive tract and a clear mind.

There is something very freeing about not eating for several days to several weeks and allowing your body to rid itself of toxins.

Each cup of vegetable juice is jam packed with all the nutrients you need to give your mitochondria the raw materials to make energy for you.  When you juice rather than eat, the nutrients make a bee-line right into your blood stream, allowing every cell in your body to feel alive and energized.

Most people think that if they do a juice cleanse – meaning consuming nothing but juice for several days or longer – that they’ll feel weak and tired.  Quite the contrary in most cases.  Think nutrients for starving cells When you eat in the usual fashion – meaning low nutrient food consumed on the run and under stressful circumstances – there’s very little nutrition, and your digestive system does not digest it well.

If you typically feel less energetic after eating, or crave food even when your stomach is telling you to stop, you just may benefit from a juice cleanse.  Your approach can be as simple as replacing a meal or two with fresh squeezed vegetable juice.  Of course, if you’d like to really benefit, try a juice cleanse for 3-5 or even 10 days.

Three days is easy to do on your own; ten days is another story.  There are a lot of emotions and habits that rear their less than pretty heads when you do an extended cleanse, and it’s best to do it with support, like the 10-Day Juice Cleanse program the Raw Divas are doing in August.  I am one of their team of juice and cleansing experts and I must say, I am impressed with what they put together.

Tune in today for my blog talk radio show called “Juicing as an Antidote to Fatigue”  for all the “juicy”  details.

Recipes So Good, They're Criminal!

Nomi Shannon's new book, What Do Raw Fooders Eat, has taken the internet by storm! Sales exceeded 300 on the first day of this five day book launch! So Nomi asked the people who created the bonuses if she could make the ‘early bird' package available to more people. They generously agreed.

So, now the first 1500 orders will receive the $401.67 in bonuses, but they are going fast too!  It's a real steal of a bargain! Click here if you don't want to be left out.

If you're like me, you'll be fascinated by the personal journeys of the raw fooders included in this book. Just for starters, you'll be glued to the page as you read about the raw food entrepreneur who was once America's #1 Most Wanted Criminal. No joke.

And you'll find out how he's put his criminal past to good use, serving others in the raw food community.

Speaking of serving others, here's a refreshing summer recipe from What Do Raw Fooders Eat that will rob your tastebuds of any doubts about the delicious value this book has to offer:

Cantaloupe Cactus Cooler

by Cecilia Kinzie

  • 1 Nopal Cactus Leaf (spines removed)
  • 2 cups coconut water
  • 2 cups chopped Cantaloupe
  • 2-4 drops liquid Stevia
  • squeeze lime

Carefully remove spines from the nopal cactus and chop into pieces. Add all ingredients into the blender except for the lime. Taste for desired sweetness and top off with a squeeze of lime. Makes about 32 ounces.
