Background:
We all should become more active in our own healthcare. We need to start being comfortable listening to our instincts and know when the treatments our doctors are prescribing aren't working. That's when we need to do our own research and find treatments that work better.
potions, powders and creams that promise getting rid of wrinkles, reversing age spots and firming our sagging rear ends.
Most of these potions and pills end up draining our bank account, and leaving us feeling duped and doomed to move through aging kicking and screaming. The original “snake oil” salesman was probably promising the fountain of youth in a bottle.
SO what's fact and what's fiction in the world of longevity research?

Join Dr. Ritamarie and Julia Schopick as they discuss ways that you can converse with your doctor that gives you a health care plan that will really emphasize treatment that works with your body and not against it. There are treatments available that your doctor may not know about, and we should be able to go to them with our research and have an honest talk about medicine.
Julia Schopick is a best-selling author and dynamic speaker who gives presentations before patients, parenting groups, and innovative doctors who want to become informed and empowered to make the best health choices for themselves, their patients, and loved ones. Creator of the award-winning blog, HonestMedicine, Julia's writings on health and medical topics have been featured in American Medical News (AMA), Alternative & Complementary Therapies, British Medical Journal, and the Chicago Sun-Times. Her mission is to inform people about little-known, but promising, treatments, and to empower them in making health care choices.
The idea for “Honest Medicine” started germinating for Julia in 2002, when her husband, Tim, was in the hospital with a non-healing post-surgical head wound caused when his suture line wouldn't heal. After eight surgeries that didn't work, Julia found another treatment that did work, only to have the doctors say it was just a coincidence. This was the spark for her passion to find other treatments that are effective, non-toxic, and inexpensive, and then to empower people to work with their doctors to acquire these treatments for their best use.
