Hello, Health-Seeker,

Wow – what a week it's been!

I am taking care of my college son long distance – he's been sick for practically the first time in his life – with a cold turned into bronchitis, and now hives. Poor kid. It's finals time and he has lots of papers due, and it's been really hard because his energy is down. On top of it all, he seems to have dislocated his shoulder!

I sent him a care package of herbs and vitamins last week, and sent him to a local acupuncturist and herbalist for help. It's hard being half way across the country. Fortunately he'll be home in just over 2 weeks.

I'm also shorthanded as one of my team members has been out sick – I've been taking care of her, too. Hopefully she'll be back on her feet soon.

In spite of it all, I am managing to use my Heart Math techniques to stay relatively cool and calm. I am so grateful for my “mini vacations” and the ability to transform stress quickly and effectively. I went to the beach a lot last week.

Thyroid Assessment Secrets Even Your Doctor May Not Know About

Your thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the front part of your neck. The bony structure in front of your neck, commonly known as the Adam's Apple, is really called the thyroid cartilage and it's purpose is to protect your thyroid gland. Your thyroid's main job is to control the amount of oxygen utilized by each and every cell in your body. Thus it controls your metabolic rate, i.e. the rate at which your body burns fuel.

If your thyroid gland is under-functioning, you burn fuel more slowly and often have difficulty with getting rid of excess body weight. People with overactive thyroid glands are usually thin and wiry with rapid heart rate and agitation.

Thyroid gland function is complex and there is no need for you to become an expert in its physiology and biochemistry. It is important, however, for you to have a general understanding to enable you to best take care of this precious gland.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 bunch fresh mint
  • 1 green apple
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 3 hearts of romaine lettuce

  1. Blend all ingredients until smooth.
