Radio Show: Maintaining A Healthy Diet While Traveling

A brown suitcase on a ledge overlooking a city, symbolizing functional health.

TravelFor many people, traveling can be a huge challenge when trying to eat healthy.

Hotels don't come stocked with Vitamixes, and generally don't have green smoothies on the room service menu.

Airplanes have limits on the size of containers plus serve terrible food and snacks.

And finally, when traveling it's easy to be tempted to get whatever food is available and easy (like the continental breakfast…bagels, coffee, synthetic creamer, and of course sugar).

It's no wonder that people may find it easier to just give in and do “as in Rome” when on the road.

Dr. Ritamarie travels extensively, sometimes for weeks at a time, so she has figured out lots of clever and delicious ways to maintain a healthy diet while on the road…and on the run.

Hint: it's so much easier than you think to stay healthy anytime, anywhere. Join Dr. Ritamarie as she gives you some simple strategies, tips, and tricks that will keep both your body happy as well as give you peace of mind. Don't miss this powerful show!

My main problem while travelling is that I love raw veggies and fruit. In some countries, there is a problem with hygiene and water contamination with fecal matter (for instance). Once I got a very bad stomach infection while in India as the monsoon ended late that year and water (even shower water) got contaminated. It nearly killed me and I had digestive issues for 2 years after that. Fresh fruit and vegetables are not recommended while on visiting such countries and I was there for 5 weeks (hard to bring along enough food with you). I do think fresh coconuts and bananas were ok, but I wanted more variety and the pineapple probably did it (I bought it whole, but it may have been soaked in dirty water to maximise its weight). I am now scared to buy fresh and local when on holiday in places like that…
