Not all “healthy” foods actually do something for your body. Most salads, dressings, and condiments look good on the plate but hardly support metabolism, hormone balance, or the gut.
This dairy free onion dill dressing is packed with nutrients that help regulate blood sugar, support hormone signaling, and feed the microbiome. Every spoonful is functional, metabolism-friendly, and adds layers of flavor. It’s just what is needed when we want to swap out bland, ineffective “health” foods.
What Is Onion Dill Dressing Made Of?
This dressing is a creamy blend of raw and lightly steamed onion, garlic, hemp seeds, avocado, fresh dill, lemon juice, Herbamare, and a splash of water. The onions add a slightly sweet and savory base, while the garlic adds a gentle pungency that wakes up the palate.
Hemp seeds give a subtle nuttiness and a rich, smooth texture, perfectly complemented by the creamy avocado. Fresh dill adds a fresh note that balances the richness, and lemon juice makes it bright and zesty. The result is a silky, dressing with layers of flavor and a satisfying mouthfeel that pairs beautifully with salads, roasted vegetables, or wraps.
How Do You Make Onion Dill Dressing?
Start by chopping the onion and reserve a small portion raw. Steam the rest of the onion lightly. Drop the raw onion into your blender with garlic, hemp seeds, avocado, dill, Herbamare, lemon juice, and steamed onion. Blend until creamy, adding water to achieve the consistency you like.
The result is a creamy and delicious dressing with a perfect balance of richness, acidity, and spice. Every bite is fresh and creamy with a flavor that’s surprisingly vibrant. It’s effortless and packs a metabolic punch in every spoonful.
How Do You Customize This Recipe?
Make this dressing your own with a few simple swaps and additions:
- Change the flavor profile by swapping dill for parsley, cilantro, or basil.
- Adjust the creaminess by using more avocado or adding cashews for richness or less avocado for a lighter texture.
- For a touch of sweetness, swap out the water for coconut water
- For added texture and nutrients, experiment with different nuts or seeds like cashews, walnuts, or pumpkin seeds.
- To make it a heartier, fiber-rich meal topper, add cooked beans or spiralized zucchini

How Do These Ingredients Help With Blood Sugar, Heart Health, and Hormones?
This onion dill dressing supports blood sugar regulation, hormone balance, and metabolic health. Sulfur compounds and antioxidants in onion and garlic improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and enhance detoxification. Hemp seeds and avocado add healthy fats and protein to support thyroid, adrenal, and reproductive hormones. Dill, Herbamare, and lemon add trace minerals, polyphenols, and gut-nourishing compounds that aid detoxification, support the microbiome, and promote overall metabolic and endocrine resilience.
Onions
Onions are packed with quercetin and organic sulfur compounds that improve insulin sensitivity, support the pancreas, and regulate glucose levels. Raw onions retain the highest sulfur content for immediate blood sugar support, while cooking increases quercetin for antioxidant benefits. They also reduce inflammation and help balance thyroid function.
Hemp Seeds
Hemp seeds contain complete proteins, GLA, and a perfect omega-6:omega-3 ratio. They support prostaglandin production, reduce PMS and menopause symptoms, stabilize blood sugar, and improve thyroid and reproductive hormone synthesis. Hemp seeds also feed the microbiome and support metabolic resilience.
Dill
Dill improves blood sugar control, reduces LDL cholesterol, and supports hormone balance. Clinical studies show it can lower fasting insulin and glucose while enhancing and regulating estrogen and prolactin pathways.
Garlic
Garlic is rich in sulfur compounds, selenium, and zinc. It improves insulin sensitivity, reduces metabolic inflammation, supports thyroid hormone conversion, and alleviates hormone-related menstrual issues. Raw garlic maximizes allicin content for optimal endocrine support.
Avocado
Avocado is rich in monounsaturated fats, fiber, magnesium, potassium, and phytonutrients which improve insulin sensitivity, support hormone synthesis (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), and aid thyroid and adrenal function.
Herbamare
Herbamare provides trace minerals and iodine to support thyroid health, lower sodium load, and regulate metabolic and hormone balance.
Lemon
Lemon is rich in vitamin C and polyphenols shown to improve insulin sensitivity, blunt glucose spikes, manage cortisol, and support adipose tissue metabolism.
This dressing is quick, nutrient-dense, and functional. It supports hormones, blood sugar, metabolism, and the microbiome, all in one vibrant, creamy package. Making it now means every meal you eat can start helping your body heal, balance, and energize immediately.
