One of my very first mentors said to me a long time ago:
โTo know but not to do is to not really know at all.โ
That stuck with me big time.
Yesterday I had the delightful experience of watching my oldest son Eric walk across the stage and collect his high school diploma.
I listened with awe at the speeches of the valedictorian and salutatorian.
My eyes welled with tears listening to the names of the students graduating, remembering many of them as kindergarteners and cub scouts.
Now they are stepping out into the world โwithout parental supervisionโย as the valedictorian so aptly put it.
In a few months most of them will be out of the nest, living in college dorms, their heads filled with knowledge but their experience buckets still rather empty.
They know a lot and we now get to see what they do with all that knowledge.
They all studied biology and nutrition, yet so few are really doing what we now know needs to be done to live life to its fullest in a healthy body that fuels a healthy mind.
Do You Find Following Through the Hardest Part of Making Changes?
How many times have you said, โI know that,โ yet not followed through with the logical actions to which knowing would lead you?
I know that eating late at night disrupts sound and cleansing sleep, yet sometimes I do it anyway.ย I know that sleep is sacred and is a time for healing, repair, and keeping me young; yet, many times I feel I can defy the laws of human physiology and biochemistry and go to bed at 4 a.m.
I say I “know” these things but apparently I donโt really know them at the core because I am not really doing them consistently.
Lately, I have been thinking a lot about how best to translate knowing into doingย – and in a way thatโs fun and light and easy.ย I am going to share my ideas with you this week.
I am ready to commit to doing what it takes to be a shining example and empower you to take the actions to revitalize any sluggish body systems that are holding you back from fully expressing your vibrant potential.ย Will you join me?
