How Do These Ingredients Help With Hormone Balancing?
This drink can help balance your hormones, boost your nutrients, and strengthen your heart. Hibiscus is packed with antioxidants which play a big role in regulating hormone levels and keeping you feeling great. Hawthorn berries aren’t just good for your heart; they also help manage hormones and reduce stress.
Motherwort, true to its name, is known for promoting hormonal balance and easing stress and anxiety. Adding mint introduces a calming effect that further helps reduce stress which is key for hormone regulation.
How Do the Ingredients Help With Cardiac Health?
Hibiscus is well-known for its ability to lower high blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Hawthorn berries work by dilating blood vessels which improves blood flow. This in turn helps in lowering high blood pressure and strengthening the heart. Rosehips is a very rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants. It helps lower cholesterol and decreases the risk of heart disease. Plus, mint aids digestion and reduces inflammation indirectly supporting heart health.
Hibiscus
Hibiscus, Hibiscus sabdariffa, is full of antioxidants like anthocyanins which help manage blood pressure. Studies show that hibiscus tea can significantly reduce both systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure.
Hibiscus also promotes vasodilation, or the relaxation of blood vessels, increasing the flow through arteries and easing the strain on your cardiovascular system. Healthy blood vessels are essential for balanced hormones, as hormones influence vascular function. Its rich antioxidant content, including vitamin C and various flavonoids, protects your heart by neutralizing free radicals that can damage blood vessels and lead to atherosclerosis.
Hibiscus contains anti-inflammatory compounds that reduce inflammation. Traditionally, hibiscus tea supports women's health, especially during menstruation, by easing cramps and discomfort. It has a gentle balancing effect on hormones like estrogen, which is crucial for mood, energy levels, and overall well-being.
Hawthorn
Hawthorn berries, Crataegus spp., have been used for centuries in traditional herbal remedies, particularly in Europe and China. These berries are known for their cardiovascular benefits. They improve blood circulation, strengthen heart muscles, and support various heart functions, helping prevent and manage heart disease, heart failure, and hypertension.
Hawthorn berries are especially good at regulating blood pressure. They relax blood vessels, reducing resistance to blood flow and lowering high blood pressure, cutting the risk of heart-related conditions. They also help stabilize irregular heart rhythms, reducing the risk of arrhythmias, which is vital for those with heart irregularities.
Rich in antioxidants like flavonoids, hawthorn berries help neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress, maintaining a stable internal environment. By improving cardiovascular health and reducing stress, hawthorn berries support a healthy endocrine system. Stress reduction is crucial for regulating cortisol and other hormones. Hawthorn’s calming properties help reduce stress and anxiety.
Good sleep is essential for hormonal balance, and hawthorn’s mild sedative properties can promote better sleep. Hawthorn also supports digestion, which is closely connected to hormone balance, especially in relation to insulin and glucose regulation. Their lipid-lowering properties contribute to cardiovascular health and positively influence hormonal balance.
Motherwort
Motherwort is primarily recognized for its cardiotonic properties, and is used to support the heart and regulate irregular heart rhythms. Compounds in motherwort have a calming effect on the heart, helping with arrhythmias. Studies suggest that motherwort tea may also have a mild blood pressure-lowering effect.
Motherwort is known for promoting hormonal balance and easing stress and anxiety. It helps regulate the menstrual cycle, alleviates irregular periods, and reduces heavy bleeding and menstrual pain. Motherwort has also been seen to ease menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings, as well. It also supports women during the postpartum period, helping to balance hormones, reduce anxiety, and support emotional well-being.
Rosehips
Rosehips, the fruit of the rose plant (Rosa spp.), are beneficial particularly for hormones and cardiac health. Traditionally, rosehips have been used to ease menstruation symptoms due to their rich vitamin C content which helps reduce heavy menstrual bleeding and alleviates cramps. They promote hormone balance and regulate estrogen and progesterone production.
Rosehips help hormonal imbalances that arise from chronic stress with their antioxidant content, including vitamin C. This stress reduction favorably impacts cortisol which also helps with blood sugar.
Skin health also benefits from rosehips, thanks to their vitamins and antioxidants that promote skin vitality. Vitamin C aids collagen production, ensuring skin’s elasticity and vibrancy.
For cardiac health, rosehips lowers cholesterol levels which reduces heart disease risk. The dietary fiber and antioxidants work together to reduce LDL cholesterol. They also possess blood pressure-lowering properties. Their antioxidant-rich composition combats oxidative stress, reducing inflammation and protecting blood vessels, ultimately preventing heart disease.
Mint
Mint supports healthy digestion by relaxing the muscles of the digestive tract and alleviating spasms. This aids in optimal nutrient absorption which helps in hormone regulation. Mint’s vasodilatory effects relax blood vessels which increases blood flow and lowers high blood pressure.
Mint is rich in antioxidants, particularly flavonoids that combat oxidative stress, reduce inflammation, and protect blood vessels from damage. Components like menthol help reduce LDL cholesterol, further mitigating heart disease risk. Mint’s natural calming effect makes it excellent for managing stress.
Are There Any Precautions?
As with any new herb, be sure to discuss them with your health care provider, especially if you are pregnant or on heart medications like blood thinners or blood pressure medications. Motherwort can cause uterine bleeding in pregnancy, and hibiscus and hawthorn berry may lower blood pressure too much if you are on medication. Also, avoid rose hips if you have hemochromatosis; the high vitamin C can cause you to absorb too much iron.
