When my mom collapsed from a sudden heart attack, I became obsessed with understanding how food impacts every system in the body from the heart to hormones and blood sugar. That moment broke me open. I had already left the world of programming behind, but now I dove headfirst into decoding human metabolism. It was clear: the food we eat every day either fuels our resilience or fast-tracks dysfunction.
I created recipes like these raw vegan chia crackers and pizza crust, because not a single hormone in your body is nourished by a cracker made of white flour and preservatives.
This recipe delivers the satisfying crunch you crave but with ingredients that heal instead of harm. It's grain-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and full of nutrient-dense, microbiome-loving, hormone-regulating power. If you're looking for anti-inflammatory alternatives, this one belongs in your kitchen.
What Are Raw, Vegan, Keto Chia Crackers and Pizza Crust Made Of?
This cracker-crust hybrid starts with a base of chia gel which acts as a natural binder and fiber-rich foundation. To boost flavor and functionality, we add a potent tomato concentrate powder, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, kelp powder, and sea salt. Every ingredient was chosen to serve a functional purpose: blood sugar, hormone balancing, and microbiome balancing.
How Do You Make Chia Crackers and Pizza Crust?
Start by blending your chia gel mixture with the herbs and powders until evenly distributed. Dollop spoonfuls onto dehydrator sheets and flatten into your desired shape. Make them thin for crackers or thicker for a crust. Dehydrate until dry and crisp on both sides. The texture is addictively crunchy, with a rich, umami flavor that rivals anything in a box.
How Do You Customize This Recipe?
This recipe is endlessly adaptable.
- Add almond pulp or sprouted buckwheat for a richer, heartier texture. This is great for turning these crackers into a more bread-like base.
- Mix in chopped Brazil nuts to boost selenium for thyroid hormone conversion and antioxidant defense.
- Spice it up with Thai-inspired flavors like fresh or powdered lemongrass, lime zest or juice, shredded coconut, or coconut aminos.
- Turn it into a raw pizza crust by forming one large flat round instead of small crackers. Once dry, top with cashew or macadamia nut cheese, raw tomato sauce, marinated mushrooms, arugula, or basil, sprouts, shredded carrots, or even spiralized zucchini. Then dehydrate again briefly to warm and meld the toppings.
- Flavor with global seasonings like Italian herbs, smoked paprika, turmeric, or curry blends for endless variations that pair well with soups, salads, or dips.
- Create mini sandwiches by layering avocado mash, fermented veggies, or seed pâtés between two crisp crackers for a hormone-loving lunch.
Each variation supports your endocrine system with nourishing fats, fiber, and phytonutrients.
How Do These Ingredients Help with Blood Sugar, Hormones, and Metabolic Health?
Chia seeds provide fiber and omega-3s to stabilize insulin and reduce inflammation, while kelp and garlic nourish the thyroid and support detox pathways. Tomato powder and Italian herbs add antioxidants, and sea salt and Brazil nuts have key minerals for adrenal and metabolic function.
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are one of the most functional foods for hormone balance. Their high soluble fiber slows carbohydrate absorption to stabilize insulin and blood sugar. They're packed with omega-3s and antioxidants like quercetin and chlorogenic acid which reduces inflammation that interferes with hormone signaling. They also have prebiotic fiber that nourishes gut microbes that help metabolize estrogen and other hormones.
Tomato Powder
Tomato powder is high in concentrated lycopene, vitamin C, and polyphenols. These act as antioxidant shields for endocrine tissues like the pancreas, thyroid, and adrenals. It also helps regulate blood sugar and supports lipid metabolism which is critical for hormone synthesis since all steroid hormones are derived from cholesterol.
Italian Seasoning
Italian seasoning (oregano, basil, rosemary) is rich in compounds like rosmarinic acid and carvacrol that reduce systemic inflammation and oxidative stress. These are two major disruptors of hormonal balance. These herbs also aid blood sugar control and improve insulin sensitivity, while their vitamins and minerals support adrenal and reproductive health.
Garlic powder
Garlic powder helps lower fasting glucose and supports thyroid health. It’s rich in sulfur compounds that activate phase 2 liver detox enzymes which helps with estrogen clearance and endocrine balance. Garlic also feeds beneficial gut bacteria, supporting the gut-hormone axis that influences everything from cortisol to serotonin.
Sea Salt
Sea salt supports adrenal function by helping regulate sodium and potassium balance. Unrefined sea salt provides trace minerals essential for hormone production and can help reduce stress-induced cortisol imbalances when used properly.
Kelp Powder
Kelp powder is rich in bioavailable iodine and fucoxanthin. It supports optimal production of thyroid hormones and may help regulate metabolic rate and fat-burning. It also contains magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins that are vital for sex hormone balance and stress resilience.
Stop eating “healthified” chips with hidden sugars and gut-disrupting additives. Choose real, nutrient-dense ingredients that work for you. This recipe is crunchy, satisfying, and 100% functional. It's food that earns its place on your plate by nourishing the glands that run your metabolism, mood, and energy. And let’s be honest, it tastes amazing.
