Here’s a Scrumptious Energy Candy, Adrenal Loving Treat that Takes Just Minutes to Prepare and The Whole Family Can Enjoy.

It’s Easter and Passover weekend, and this is the perfect treat to ease those adrenals while celebrating with friends and family, Scrumptious Energy Candy: Low Glycemic

These candies start with almond butter, but you can use your favorite nut or seed butter. Almond butter is high in vitamin E which is a powerful antioxidant and is very low glycemic aiding in balancing blood sugar. It is also high in minerals like magnesium, zinc, and iron which can be low when we’re under a lot of stress. The coconut oil hardens to hold the candy together, but it also helps regulate inflammation in the body and supports hormone production. Coconut oil aids in converting short chain fatty acids into long chain fatty acids which is important for the inflammatory pathway.

Next, we add powders. Some people refer to these as superfoods, because they are so nutrient-dense. We combine green powders, astragalus, mushroom powders, and cacao. The green powders are high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These not only boost nutrition, but they aid in protecting the body from oxidative stress and support natural detoxification processes. Astragalus is an adaptogen known for its ability to improve energy levels and promote overall vitality by supporting adrenal gland function. Cordyceps and chaga are medicinal mushrooms that are anti-inflammatory. Cordyceps provides energy and stamina relieves fatigue and supports the kidneys. Chaga is known for its immune supporting capabilities. Cacao turns this into a chocolatey treat while also providing more antioxidants and minerals like zinc, magnesium, and iron.

A few drops of your favorite food-safe essential oil boost the flavor and can provide health benefits, as well. Peppermint is high in antioxidants and is a relaxant to the nerves, so it is perfect for this adrenal soothing treat.

Scrumptious Energy Candy: Low-Glycemic

Ingredients: 

  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon green powder
  • 1 teaspoon astragalus powder
  • 1 teaspoon cordyceps mushroom powder
  • 1 teaspoon chaga mushroom powder
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder (or carob)
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 4 drops peppermint oil or cinnamon oil (or your favorite)

Directions:

1. Put all ingredients in a bowl and stir until well combined.
2. Add stevia if desired for extra sweetness. I found it to be fine without stevia.
3. Spoon into candy molds or ice cube trays or spread into a baking dish lined with wax paper.
4. Freeze until solid, about half an hour.
